    Hi All,

I had a phone interview with a big 4 firm and have now been called in for an in office interview. I’m basically just trying to prepare as best as possible for the meeting. Can anyone shed some light on what to expect and the answer they are looking to hear?

    Thanks,

    Audit & BEC passed…

Confidence and likeable personality which are both overrated in the Accounting profession IMO.

Congrats on getting an office interview!

Outgoing and conversational; can this person hold a conversation, can they talk to clients?

There was a good thread on interview questions to bring with you, have a search on this site.

I've only interviewed for PWC, but it wasn't like a normal interview at all and they don't give two sh*** about whether or not you know your stuff (probably because they assume you know basic accounting and can teach you whatever else you'll need to know anyway). In the whole 2 days I think I might've spent 20-30 minutes actually “interviewing” with people. Like everyone else has said, they want outgoing, likeable people. Unfortunately for me, I had absolutely no idea what to expect walking into my interview and I'm an introvert, have a bad personality, and don't usually like people I don't know… I did not get that job.

Hope you have better luck than I did!

If you hv time, search behavioral questions..They ask a lot of those scenario questions and you shld approach it with a STAR approach. I would look at some frequently asked behavioral questions and from my school/previous work experience come up with examples following the STAR technique..Also have a few good questions to ask at the end of the interview. Thats very important and sometimes hard to do..

Good luck! Be confident, wear a smile and you will do just fine!

I'd say worry less about the behavioral questions and more on what has already been mentioned. Basically:

    1. Be confident, energetic, and positive without being awkward.

    2. Be able to articulate why you want to work at the Big 4 you're at.

    3. Be able to articulate how your past experience can translate in a Big 4 environment.

Be yourself. I interviewed with all 4 firms and I ended up exactly where I felt that I belonged. Be confident, friendly and outgoing.
