internship offers: asking to change from winter to summer internship?

    Hello,

I am new to this forum, nice to meet you all!

I have a small dilemma that I’m a little confused about…I’m currently getting my MACC and applying for internships for next winter & summer.

I have held first round on campus interviews with midsize cpa firm already and they asked me would I prefer winter or summer internship? and I said I would prefer winter. I am pretty confident I can get this internship.

Then, I forgot I applied for the pwc Winter/Spring internship instead of summer, and I received an invitation for first round interviews on campus next week. I am not as confident that I can get this internship.

I would like to have an internship for both winter and summer, so what would be the best thing to do?

Should I ask the midsize firm if I can change my internship to the summer? (but then if they ask me why, what should I say? won’t it look bad if I said well, i might get a big 4 internship for the winter..)

Or should I ask at my pwc interview if I can change to summer? and then if they ask me why, what do I say?

Both firms hire full time pretty much after internships, and I would like to have a secure FT job after I graduate…

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I wouldn't say anything until you actually get an offer. Then say something about the class scheduling… ex. this class isn't offered in the summer or something. I'm sure pwc has a ton of options for you to start anytime. The smaller firm might not though. I guess you could say you made a mistake and applied to the wrong one. But do you really want that first impression? not paying attention to detail isn't exactly a good thing for an accountant lol why would you want to do 2 internships with 2 different firms? If you do an internship with one and they offer you FT I don't think it's acceptable to go internship with a different firm.
