Are there opportunities to work in different countries within the Big 4? Specifically, If I was able to get in the Big 4, I would love to eventually work in Japan for 2-3 years. Is something like this possible?

Yes.

Basically:

1.) Speaking the local language always helps. Some international assignments will be ok with English only, but others require a solid understanding (written and spoken) of the local language.

2a.) Have a solid business case. If most of the firm's client sin Country A are banks, you kind of need banking or financial services experience in the US to help make your business case. Otherwise, their view is that they're just paying for a vacation.

2b.) If you don't have the required industry experience, then start managing your career to make sure you get that experience.
