I was reading a discussion about Big 4 Accounting firms and someone suggested that it’s easier to get into Audit if you are “hot” or “good looking.” Reason for this was that you’re expected to be a good sales person in the audit team, to sell services to client (e.g. people in IT Audit can suggest further services). He said that all the auditors he had seen had one thing in common-very good looks. Is there any truth to this notion or does he have a warped view of reality?

I thought this rather comical quote about Big 4 leadership was funny, as it somewhat applies to my post:

“Advisory leaders, of course, are the shiny ones. They wear fancy clothes, talk a big game, and are far, far more physically attractive.”

“……they get clients to thank them for it and come back begging for more. It's inexplicable.”

So we're not paranoid 🙂

And I guess candidates like me somehow have to find something to sell, other than their book smarts.. Athleticism, looks, etc. I think at some level everybody has a shot, some bigger than others..

as most of the post on here suggest that audiotrs are usually hot. I would just like to add that such is not the case with audit firms internationally especially in KSA. All the recruiters care about over here is how much you are willing to put in during busy season. And beleive me when i tell you that auditors over here are no where even close to the likes of @toughkitty, @mints or @teetee 😉 They hardly ever dress nice or care about their looks and the only thing on their mind is what kind of free client food they will be binging on the day's lunch or dinner 😛
