I had an office visit to a big 4 firm last Tuesday. I thought it went well. I Was told I would hear something within 1-2 weeks. I know its only been a week but I feel like I would have heard something by now. Should I feel bummed about it or is it too early? Has someone been in this situation before? How soon is too soon to follow up?

You should have possibly heard something by now. But there is a 2 week buffer, so give them that. I had an office visit on a Friday, and I heard back by Monday morning. So I guess it just depends.

no it doesnt guarantee a job offer. I concur with cessna, give them the buffer and then check back in. It's a plus to be persistent, a negative to be annoying

No, they don't, although I assume that most people are extended an offer, and they generally (at least here) notify you of rejection. I didn't do B4, but the firms I recruited with each took longer to extend an offer (and rejection) to me than they initially said. Probably won't hurt to e-mail your recruiter with a follow-up ‘I'm grateful, would love to work here, etc.'

Absolutely NOT. I know a few people, who received office visits and didn't receive an offer, afterwords.

Wait the two weeks, then follow-up. Continue to follow-up every several weeks. Typically, the BIG 4 move quickly (I've heard), if they're interested (although, not always). If you're a decent candidate, but they decide to go with someone else, they will typically make an offer to the other candidate and wait for a response, which could take a few weeks. Then, once he/she accepts the offer, they will send out the rejection letters.

No it doesn't. If you interview during an office visit definitely don't let your guard down. In my opinion you want to be friendly and be sure to say hello to everyone you cross paths with. And also don't do anything to give them a reason to say no.

Also I agree with others, a quick thank you letter/email thanking them for their time and letting them know you're still interested is never a bad idea. I would send it as early as the next day, but it's up to you and it's never too late if you haven't already.

I got an office visit at pwc 3 years ago…they called me right before I got home from the interview and said I didn't have enough experience to come in right before busy season (I was working industry for a year).

    Go figure
