Been talking with a Big 4 recruiter for a few weeks now. My phone “interview”, which seemed more like a screening, went really well and she verbally confirmed that I would be interviewing with them. The first round of interviews for the summer new hires took place two days after the phone screening and I couldn’t make it due to lack of PTO time with current employer…but she reassured me I would be able to interview for the May 21st round.

I emailed her yesterday to make sure I was scheduled for the interviews next week, to which she apologized for the delay and said the invitations should be sent by the end of the night last night…

… an invitation I have not received (gotta love yoda)

Do you think I should forget about having that interview, or am I being paranoid? How long do I wait to receive an invitation? BTW, when I sent the email to check on my status for the interview, I received an automated out of office response that indicated she had a very busy couple of days ahead of her up until Friday.

I would give her a call or email on Friday or Monday.

If they didn't want to bring you in, they would have communicated that upfront. You don't want to be annoying, but you don't want to slip through the cracks either.

“invitations should be sent” should should should, she would have liked to have had them sent last night, I bet you get an invitation today. But given the fact that the interviews are less than a week away, hitting her up again Friday or Monday if you have not heard back seems reasonable.

“Hey so and so, I realize you must be super busy these days, you mentioned my invitation coming on Wednesday, I just want to check the status”

That coming on Friday or Monday is way better than now, as the invitation is roughly 12 hours late from when you posted this haha

So I ran into the same sort of experience you did. I had a phone interview in late March which I thought went well and never heard back from them after a week or so. Six weeks later and I get asked to come in for a second round interview. Never write it off until you get a rejection letter!
