    Hii

I have applied for Deloitte for their tax consultant position(via my college and its an entry-level position).

I was offered an interview so I would like to know how the recruiting process go…I checked on their website and I could not find a lot of info but wt i know is that I will go to social dinner the day before the interview..so what will happen after first interview??

The reason I asked is because there are usually 2 interviews and one formal dinner at the end(if you passed the 2 interviews)..but on the email that I received..it states ” you have been PRE-SELECTED for an interview), so does not mean this is only a “PRE-INTERVIEW”….I really want to know about this…can someon help me??

    THANKS!!!

Is it a phone call with the HR lady?

If you've been selected for interview with a big4, you've already proved to them you're smart. So what you really need to focus on are the things the big4 look for:

    – positive attitude

    – good personality

    – decent interpersonal skills

    – willingness to learn

    – show you can tolerate sh*tty situations

Basically, they look for these things listed above because in audit, you spend 12+hours in a stuffy conference room with your colleagues at the client location. In tax, you at least get a cubicle, but yeah, since you'll be working long hours during certain times, you need to just show you'll be someone your colleagues can tolerate personality-wise and you won't be in a bad mood, etc.

I've never been impressed with big4 hiring practices. They'll hire 22 yr olds mostly from only the colleges the partners went to knowing they'll drop like flies after 1-2 years there.

    HI pedrocerrano

thanks for your reply and advice

no it is not a phone interview and I am asked to go to their office for an interview… so i guess this is part of the selection process? cuz from the email, I feel like I am not shortlisted but it was just an pre-interview…which means I may have 2 more rounds to go..><……..

Well I had on campus interview with Deloitte about 2 weeks ago. The night before the interview I had the pre-interview dinner. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was pretty casual. You get an opportunity to talk to managers and associates about their experiences at Deloitte. To me, i thought this was great cause i used what I learned at dinner to answer questions the interviewer asked me. The questions I was asked were more along the lines of “Why Deloitte?”, tell me about yourself, and some behavioral questions related to teamwork. Anyway, Im waiting to hear back about second round interviews. They said it would be a couple of weeks.

When I went through the process with Deloitte, we had a first round interview on campus, for which we were “pre-selected.” Then we were given notice that we had been chosen for a second round interview, and before that was the pre-interview social event (ours was at a Dave & Busters, pretty fun). The second round interview was the next day at the office.

So, likely the interview you were pre-selected for is the first round. They only say pre-selected because they had picked your resume out of the bunch that they received, since there are only so many slots for 1st rounds.

    REG - 87 (Becker)
    AUD - 96 (Becker & Ninja MCQs)
FAR - 85 (Becker, Ninja MCQs, Audio and Blitz)
BEC - Last one! Waiting on score release 11/24!
