[NC CPA]

Hello Fellow Ninjas

Here is my situation:

I graduated in May 2013 summa cum laude, majoring in accounting . I have already attempted FAR and AUD section of the CPA exam and have passed them. I have attempted REG and waiting for the score (hopefully praying to GOD I pass). I am onto BEC. The Big 4 never conducted on campus recruiting at my school. during my junior year, i tried applying for internship through their website but all ended in vain… no response. I want to ask whether having CPA exam cleared right after undergrad will help me in getting in BIG 4. I am expecting to be done by the end of July 2013. Any advice , comments will be appreciated?

I work in Public and I actually have some experience around recruiting…

I would first say that big four generally hires one year in advance for a fall position (when coming from campus). Most big 4 have target schools and if your school isn't in the radar it can be challenging. Network as much as you can. Also, I would work closely with head hunters as they may have more input and connections to get your resume in the right direction. My school was a target school so the recruiting process was fairly easy.

Yah, networking is your best option here. Stay in touch with classmates even if it doesn't help in the near term. It might get you something in the future.

Also, try to get your foot in the door at smaller CPA firms and get that valuable audit work experience. From there, keep networking, and you might be able to move to a big 4 or regional firm.

Also, passing your CPA exams will help, but make sure you're not isolating yourself all the time. Making connections and getting your name out there can be just as important.
