I am attmpting to pass the CPA Exam before I start fulltime with Big 4 later this year while finishing up my MAcc. How does this place me with my starting class at Big 4? Will I be given more work just because I will not have to be simultaneously studying for the exam? Will my coworkers even know if I have passed the exam or not? I am just trying to get a feel for the perception that seniors and managers have for new hires that have already passed the exam prior to starting.

Congratulations on the full time job!

As for passing the exams, I don't think that it will affect your work at all. Your coworkers won't know you've passed the exam unless you tell them. And I think seniors/managers will have more respect for a new hire who is already done with their exams.

I don't think the workload you'll get is dependent on if you're studying for your exams or not; everyone seems to get the same amount of work. That's why my seniors stressed to me early on that you should try to pass your exams ASAP. With your starting class, I'm sure there will be a handful of people who have passed all four parts, and handful that have not even started, and a majority who are in the middle of completing their exams.

I agree that it won't be dependent on that. In my experience, the people having discussions about scheduling don't remember that I'm studying for the CPA, and they're just assigned work equally to everyone

Yeah no change in work, and you'll be the envy of your peers, and some supervisors if you care to share. Great job!

I'm currently working with my summer intern who is starting in the fall to see how many exams he can finish before he starts. Studying + Working really, really sucks, glad I only had one exam left when I started at D&T.

No change in workload, but you will be ahead of your peers if you are done with the exam, and that looks great!
