    Hello,

I’m sure this question gets asked alot, but…..

I’ve asked this question before on this form and it seemed like I had a decent chance. However, I went from being able to get a 3.5 GPA by the time I apply for internship, to a max of a 3.29 GPA. However, my GPA for accounting classes is much higher. This makes me a little bit worried about my chances. At my school, WSU in Washington, there is a 3.2GPA minimum to be considered for an interview. By the time I apply, I will have worked 3 years in Accounts Payable full time, but have no extra-curricular activities, because I have no time. I intend to network as much as I can for the 2015-2016 school year to prepare my application at the start of the 2016-2017 school year.

Any thought on my chances to at least receive an interview?

This forum sometimes is a huge distraction for I wasted (because of the negativity)abt 30 minutes reading this thread for advice/opinion and now commenting. What I find is that frightfully so many people get offended/offensive when giving what is suppose to be advice/inspiration/opinion. Wanna be CPAs seems to have a difficult time communicating nicely to each-other lol. Hopefully its not like this in an acct firm or I may be in the wrong field. I got caught up in a debate months ago that turned so ridiculously stupid and after reading a few threads I see that this is common on this forum

Anyways, network, personality, respect, good work ethics is the key to success. You will do fine 🙂

@acamp, good to see you still posting as well. Had a ridiculously long busy season, so been away for….quite a while.

@ikhan89, “My school had 60-80 slots for 1st round on campus interviews, per firm.” That's great that you went to a good accounting school. But the number of schools that do not fit this category outnumber the ones that do. In which case you example is the exception, not necessarily the rule.

If you do a quick search for threads on the Big 4 here. There are plenty of people with the grades you mentioned failing to even get a first look at their resume. Not to mention that lower ranked school have higher GPA requirements than higher ranked schools.

So I'd say that things like “I honestly don't think GPA matters at all” isn't really helpful; if not detrimental. Sorry, it's one of my pet peeves, so didn't mean to sound like I was trolling you.

“You probably think talent acquisition/recruiters sit there and read everyone resume and cover letter, right? lol”

No, I think they simply filter the GPAs out. At least at my school they did as well as some of the schools I've done recruiting at.
