    Hi ninjas,

What do you think of the career outlook from a Big4 tax practice? I just started with a Big4 firm in tax last month, and would like to start thinking further. I want to specialized in one or two areas in tax. But from a long term perspective, I am not sure which specializations would be easy for me to eventually go into corporate tax. Tax accounting? M&A? SALT? Transfer pricing? or else? Thank you for your insight, and for sharing your experience and stories! Very appreciated.

There have been similar topics I've posted in with this information, probably in the last month or two. You can check my post history to find some.

Hi. I remember that you said “big 4 is shying away from EA”. What does this mean? I am actually trying to get EA.

It means EA is not enough to get you promoted and so we will not let you sign returns, even with an EA. CPA is required.

I am on a CPA track. But what if I want to find a job in the Big 4, will EA help if I don't have the CPA yet?

    @ cyc

I don't work in big 4, but I would say just focus on one exam at a time. The CPA is hard enough on its own. And if you are working on it, especially if you have passed some, it probably looks better than an EA. If you already have your EA, it won't hurt I'm sure.

    Florida CPA!
    Took final exam 2/25/15.
    Sent in Application 3/12/15.
    Issued License 3/20/15.
Used CPA Excel solely for all exams.

Let me be blunt. EA is meaningless to us.
