Any career advice to change career path from Big 4 to Mid Size? Is Mid Size more work and life balance?

Generally speaking, yes, but tax season (Q1) will still be fairly busy. Perhaps slightly better than 70+ hrs/wk as in Big 4. Consider the different type of work you will be doing as well. For example, on many audits we work on we just give the audit of the pension or retirement plan or benefits to smaller firms. Depending on which firm you go to, life could get extremely repetitive (more than it already is).
