Big4 – for next year hire

Looking into the Big4 firms to start next year. Have they selected their hires for next year’s class? Do I still have a shot at starting at a Big4 for next year?

Background: CPA License (paid initial license fee), Earned degree in early 2011 (with 3.7 GPA), 3+ years of private accounting.

    Thanks!

Seems that you should rely on your professional network. Do you know anyone who currently works at a Big 4?

I received my offer late in April for a start date of next fall, and I believe I was one of the last to be hired for that start class. Normally they will hire a year or more in advance due to the 150 hour requirement.

    Passed - 2014

Our office does fall interviews, so if you get rocking, like NOW, you might be able to wiggle your way into upcoming interviews. Start applying, attending any networking events you can, stalk some recruiters on LinkedIn, etc. I would apply on the target firm's website under experienced hire, and then send some LinkedIn emails to the recruiters. ie:

“CPA Exams Done (license pending) 3.7 GPA, 3 years corporate accounting experience, looking to start ASAP as a 1st or 2nd year auditor, completed online application.”

My interviews were in October I think, and they hired me for the following January which might not be a bad approach for you if you can get interviews and stress the early start. At my firm, if you participated in the most recent busy season you move up a notch in August. So you might start as a 1st year in January and be a 2nd year by August. This way you don't have to start being expected to do more difficult sections (if hired as a 2nd year), but will minimize the amount of time you'll be a 1st year.
