I have been working for a big 4 going on two years. It’s not the worst thing in the world but in general the work is both hard and boring and the culture is horrendous. For some reason, type A people abound and lay awake at night worrying about work and force everyone to stay late and complete more and more inconsequential work. Delete these columns here, write more here. None of it makes a bit of difference yet people spend hours and hours on it. Do they not realize how silly it is to waste their lives on this? Auditing is fine to a point but everyone goes overboard and takes themselves and the work far too seriously. Why do we all have to sit at the same table in the same room? Why do I have to hear about what Prince George was wearing for the 80th time? Can I please go sit alone for three or four hours of this day? Do I really need to receive emails from leadership on Sundays? It’s unbearable.
