Hi,

I am looking at an International Tax position in the Big 4. I was wondering if anyone has experience in Itax in a Big 4 that could share their experiences? Did you enjoy Itax? Were you happy picking Itax? What type of projects did you handle? How was the workload year around in Itax? What were your hours?

Hi DoWork, from my experience Big4 can be very different based on which company, office and group you work for. It's been really great for me, and I know a lot of other people who enjoy it a lot. But I've also seen a good amount of people who felt pretty miserable. So, my advice would be to understand the people you'll be working with directly before committing as this will influence your experience more than anything else. The projects you'll be working on are (in my opinion and experience) more challenging that the types of projects you get in other tax service lines, which makes them more interesting too.

As far as workload goes, most people follow the traditional busy season routine, while others get really busy only when a big project comes in (M&A groups for instance). So, again, you'd better discuss this with you future boss and see if you're getting hired into a local office IT group with a regular busy season schedule or maybe a national platform with a somewhat different organization.
