    Hi

I just interviewed for a big 4 ( E&Y- NY ) for a position of an experienced hire in Advisory yesterday, i met a manager , and 2 partners. The interviews went of well ( or atleast i think so !! ) They asked me to walk through my resume, why Financial Services and a few behavioral questions.

I sent out my thank you letter immediately .

How soon does one hear back from HR on if they plan to make an offer or not ………..

Every office is different, and since NY takes in so many hires a year, I'd imagine it takes a while. That would have been a great follow up email or interview question for post-interview. I'd ask.

    @ canson16

It might take up to a week or 2. Just be patient and wait for their call. My offer took a week to come (from 1 of the Big4).

You can make your final decision according to all advice that you will receive. My advice is not to reach out and instead, wait for them to contact you. The reason why I don't think it's a good idea for you to reach out first is because it might show desperation (even if you really are desperate). If they know you're desperate to get the job, you won't be able to negotiate the salary if you wanted to do so. Additionally, they might see you as someone who has no patience and is pushy. I successfully negotiated 2k more in my annual base salary but it was very risky and took a lot of guts. If you do not have the skills or techniques to negotiate an increase of salary, please, please, don't do it because might end up losing everything.

If you can, wait 1 week before considering contacting them

It's just my opinion. Good luck!

Does anyone know how long does it usually take from last interview to actual offer for a BIG 4 especially if you are an experienced hire ?

Depends on how much need there is. From my own experience (EY-NYC-Assurance), it was about the same amount of time as you. A new class in advisory has been starting every week so it seems like there's a big need.

    Congrats!

So you got an email saying they would like to extend an offer but didnt give you the final offer in writing? If that's the case, I'm sure it's soon. The firm is probably just gathering all the information bc there's a lot to plan for a new hire.

the email said “You did very well with your interviews and we wish to begin the offer process” and asked for a bunch of information regarding previous compensation etc … i sent it out the same day … i.e last monday 7/30/2012 and today is 8/8/2012 …

I started 2 years ago at EY-NYC. I remember getting the verbal offer and then having to wait a week or 2 for them to give me the written one in the mail – that's after i pass the background check, etc.

    Canson,

Did you go get the e&y interview through a headhunter or a recruiter from e&y? Either way, would it be possible to get the recruiter's contact? I am also trying to get into one of the Big 4's. Thanks!
