Does this happen at every firm? If I had known that before I bought it, I may have gone with a cheaper review course.

Yes I got taxed for mine. They paid about $1.5k for it and that 1.5k counted as ordinary income which is then taxed. It's considered a taxable benefit I suppose

Acamp- nope. My boss promised that before I was hired (Nov 2010) and I had some health problems in 2011 so my restudying restarted in 2012 after tax season. After showing the boss (firm owner/sole proprietor) my final passing score, he backed out on his agreement to reimburse for any study materials, testing fees, and no bonus either. It was promised I would receive a raise “sometime in 2013” but I won't hold my breath.

He's shown enough about the way he operates to show it's a place to gain experience but not to put down roots. Sorry if I sound a little bitter b/c I am over how he promised and is backing out.
