How do employee referrals work at EY?

I am looking to relocate to another city and would like to seek employment with EY. I have contacts who work for EY in my current city but am wondering if they can refer me for positions in other locations.

To my understanding, if you have a referral then great, but it is entirely up to the availability in that office. I have had friends who go for interviews in their current towns, but prefer other cities. The only thing the recruiting team can do in your current town is refer you to the other city and say “we like him, but he wants to work with you. Is their availability?” You would have to go for separate interviews in that city and do the whole interview process. There is no guarantee and they can't just make spots.

I got a job with EY when I was getting masters out of state. If your 1-st round goes well they will recommend you for 2nd round in your location of choice. Pretty much if they really like you they will try to keep you with the firm no matter which office you want to end up at. And yes, having recommendations certainly helps. After my 1st interview with EY they notified me the very next day that they are recommending me for 2nd rounds. The partner that I met wrote a recommendation. Also…I did not get 1st round with KPMG when I applied but later in the week I met a KPMG director and he wrote a recommendation for me. A few days after I recieved an e-mail from one of the managers and interviewed over the phone and then was invited to fly in for 2nd round. Getting recommended has helped me a lot!!!
