I recently applied to one of the Big 4 as an experienced hire through their online application portal. I was wondering how long does it usually take them to respond back to the application?

I applied for the experienced assurance staff position, but the only work similar to assurance that I did at my current job was compilations. Do they want someone that has prior experience doing audits?

The response times can vary greatly. I think a lot of it depends on how good of a match you are. I would research who the recruiters are for your area on LI and contact them directly regarding the position.

It all depends on their hiring needs. I mean you can have a resume bank full of 100% awesome candidates. But if you have no hiring needs at that moment, are you even looking at them? Maybe to pick a few, but probably not.

So because of that, time frame can range from that week up to and including never. I wouldn't hold my breath and move on to other openings. If you get a call back in the mean time then consider yourself lucky. Seriously. At this point chance is just as important as your resume.

about 3% response rate on job-board postings. you're going up against thousands of people. networking/knowing somebody at the firm, asking former professors, friends, etc etc usually yields better results. keep trying. when i apply cold like that i keep my expectations very low. shoot out 50-100 resumes on monster/indeed/company websites and basically get 5 responses not including all the BS recruiter stuff.
