How long does a background check for an entry level big 4 position take? I submitted the info for it on May 1st and it’s still showing as “in progress”. Does/did anyone else have a similar experience with this?

When I did one, I got the result back from the agency within a week (I checked the box to get a copy for myself as I was very curious to see what exactly shows up in a background check). I think certain states require that anyone who performs a background check give you the option to receive a copy so you can dispute a fact if necessary.

It may take longer depending on when they actually submit the check to the agency. I think I accepted my offer on a Friday, recruiter probably sent the info to the agency that day or on Monday, and before the end of the next week I had a copy of the report.

From time of submission, it shouldn't take long. The big question is how soon they actually sent in your info to get the report on you.

My new employer ran a bg check and it took 6 business days…and I thought that was long. How far back does your employment history go? If u had many employers in the past they may be still waiting on one to verify employment

What do they check when they do backround check. Do they check credit history and is that something they can withdraw the offer for?

Mine came back in a week also. I got a copy of the report as well and from what it looks like its a basic credit check and also calling the previous employers, verifying your dates of employment along with the job description.

They are just looking to see if you have had credit problems, are a criminal, that you didn't lie, and to see what people think of you.

I contacted the BG check company and they're done. The employer may or may not have to do more but the company said I'm good. Thanks everyone
