Quick question – in terms of Big 4 is there a difference between an “assurance” position and an “audit” position?

I wouldn't think so, but you may want to check to make sure. I know that sometimes Assurance is broken into different categories (e.g., Risk Assurance), but normally Assurance = Audit.

If you are asking this because you are applying for a position with one of the firms, then, yes, normally Assurance = Audit.
