Am I being too Paranoid…Pre-employment Check?

I know how many background check questions and concerns there are on here, and most have to do with lying about a gpa, fake job, or something like that. I never lied about anything like that, but do have some concerns about a few other things.

I was unsure about some of the dates I put down for my prior addresses and I also did not list 2 jobs/internships that I had; which are going back some 5 years or so. One was just for a month because it was seasonal, and the other about 6 months.

How bad might this be; if it comes up will I have my offer rescinded? This is for a big4 firm btw, so if anyone has any direct experience with any of those firms I would be incredibly grateful for your help. I can give some more details in a PM also if that helps.

You're fine. Most people don't know exact dates for residences, and you're not obligated to list ALL experience. The only way failing to list any experience hurts you is if its the only experience relevant to the job you are applying for because you'd look underqualified. If the experience you DID list meets the criteria you're fine.

    I second what mla1169 said. You're fine.

The background check more of a criminal background check So definitely do not lie about anything that might come up in a criminal history report. If it's a minor infraction, and you have a perfectly honest explanation for it (“I was young and stupid” would certainly work) you should still be OK. If it's something serious that would probably bar you from obtaining a CPA license, then it probably won't work out. You're in the wrong career field anyway.

Employers will verify employment but they usually call up your past employers (the ones you listed). So I wouldn't worry about the short-term jobs/internships you did not list.

No one remembers the exact dates of all their addresses. I can't remember all the addresses I've ever lived at. Do your best. That's all they expect.
