Advice?? Starting Big 4 This Week

I’m starting with one of the Big 4 in auditing this week after spending my summer studying and taking three exams. I’m a little nervous for training- just not sure what to expect. I’ll be studying for AUD during training and my first few weeks to take that mid-october.

Any advice for someone like me just starting out? Whether for training or general advice or shifting from studying full-time to balancing studying with work?

I'm in the same boat. Took my four exams. I start tomorrow. Nervous as I don't know what to expect even though I had an internship! I remember being super nervous for the first day, but everything just kind of falls into place once you arrive from what I remember.

I say come in with a good attitude, be ready to ask questions, and have a notepad ready.

Also as far as studying goes you should be able to get some things accomplished if you study in the evenings after work. Most teams will be getting ready for interim work for Q3 so that can be busy with test of controls and things like that so it will be slightly busy depending on your client and how your team works. As long as you communicate with them on your schedule (on my team we had a team calendar so that everyone was aware of things people had to do after work).

Good luck to the both of you! Everything will go well!

    Hey Guys,

    Congrats on the new job!

I wouldn't worry about it too much, do a great in the new role and definitely communicate with your team.

And for studying, take advantage as much as possible for the time outside of work, not just when you are at a desk. Especially while on the train. Or if you are driving, load up the videos from your study material and have them play while you drive.

    You got this!

Hey cpacpacpa33 can you please share your strategy on taking and passing 3 exams in Q3!? That's so awesome & congrats on those & the new career! I just feel like I am stretching the exam bc things come up & work is busy, but i wish i could just cram it in a Q and get it over with.

Show up on time, have a good attitude, work hard, and show you've actually thought about a potential solution to a question before asking it. Besides that, you will mostly learn on the job. Oh, and if someone is teaching you how to do something, always have a notebook / pen ready to jot down notes. Don't be nervous!

Congrats on your job! I too just started with a big four this past September and have taken two exams while working… it’s doable but definitely a grind. You have to be really dedicated either in the morning or at night and the weekends. I got the ninja programs so I could
Listen to audio on my commutes and write notes on the train, or do flash cards while on the subway. You must choose to study whenever you get a moment. As far as work..just go in with a Positive attitude and being willing to help with anything. Be grateful that we don’t have as much on our plates as staff 1s… so it’s much easier to study compared to a senior.
