I currently work for a Nonprofit that does the book keeping for Charter Schools. We're basically the back office.

The job is great because we work remotely ever since the Pandemic. The team members are great and we all help each other out.

The pay isn't comparable with working for a for profit, but the organization hasn't laid off people that I know of. I get contacted by by recruiters all the time for positions that would increase pay by 30% or more but the job is steady and I also have the ability to advance.

The good thing is that because of the job being remote, I can move out of state and continue to work there as some of the current employees have.

I don't really expect to leave anytime soon.

I returned to school in 2013-14 for a second undergrad in accounting. Afterward, I passed all of the exams first try, using Ninja book and MCQs, in 2016. I have held several jobs: a business auditor for a county government, in tax in several public accounting firms on a seasonal basis, a system accountant for a boutique hotel chain, then for a law firm where I specialize in estate, trust and individual tax. While working for the law firm I finally completed the experience I needed for a license in 2020. I still work there part-time during the season and ad-hoc the rest of the year working on divorce and civil cases with the attorneys. In October 2021 I accepted a job as an accountant for the federal government and am now responsible for the monthly and year-end close for several federal agencies. Accounting is my second career and I love it. I had prior federal service so I earn enough leave to travel frequently for long weekends and extended trips and will be able to retire again in 5 years. Life is good! Another71 has been a big part of my journey and I am grateful to Jeff and my crew on the forum from 2014 to 2016 who kept me going through all 4 exams. Those were good times!

@Jeff – Yep, still stuck at Phase 2.

Eminem's “Killshot” didn't do much to help either. 😁
