Accepted for KPMG interview….but they asked for undergrad transcripts!

My undergrad transcripts are HORRIBLE. I mean bad.

However, I was able to spin my resume to look great, because I have a good MS gpa, all kinds of extra curriculars, experience, etc. But……I got an e-mail saying that as part of the review process, they want to see my undergrad transcript. Now, I have to say, I’m expecting the worst. Of course, I’m going to stay confident, have a good explanation, and maximize my opportunity but, I need someone to give it to me straight….. AM I DOOMED?

Seriously, when they look at this thing, I’m going to seem, on paper at least, to be a candidate with a past that makes them worry. In person, I believe I can out-schmooze all other candidates, and I believe I’m the best candidate. I’m confident as hell!!! But I’m feeling like my chances have seriously dropped by virtue of this situation. Am I correct? Or do they really go with who they like based on the interviews?

No I don't think you're doomed, it really is about how you spin it (in undergrad I was a screw up more interested in having fun than working hard, I learned my lesson, changed my ways and you can clearly see the difference in my grad school GPA).

I'm pretty sure they want your undergrad transcripts just to make sure that you actually graduated with the degree you stated.

I think the fact that you have a good graduate GPA makes all the difference. The spin is built in. They don't care where you came from but where you ended up.

Any firm will ask for all transcripts for verification purposes. I don't get a candidate's undergrad resume when I do interviews. If you got the interview, they want to talk to you. However, just curious in general, how did you get into a graduate program if your undergrad was so bad?
