I have Becker but am thinking I need to go with a supplement as well. The reason I got Becker is because it was offered half off when I graduated in May. I work full time so will only have so much time to study. For anyone that has used Becker and maybe something else, what would you recommend? I was thinking Becker and the NINJA notes? I dont know if I will need any additional multiple choice questions since there seem to be so many offered with Becker. I have not started studying yet and probably wont until August but I am just trying to come up with a game plan.

Becker will keep you PLENTY busy for now, especially since you have not yet started studying. I'm using Becker and will be adding the Ninja Notes and maybe MCQ later. I don't believe you need to worry about Ninja anything right now. You have plenty to do with Becker. I speak from experience.

I am also using Becker. The Ninja notes are good to add right away. I read the chapter in my Becker book in the morning or during lunch, listen to Ninja Audio while driving to/from work every day and read the Ninja notes at night before bed as review from what I read earlier and from the audio. I have been doing one chapter a week and leave the homework for the weekend when I have more time to study. The Becker videos are very time consuming. I have stopped watching them. I suggest you only watch them when you need help understanding a topic. The Ninja MCQ are good to purchase for your review phase before the test. You could never have too many MCQ.

I have heard the Becker videos are super long. I was planning on watching them on Sunday and making notes from them. My plan was to also get the Ninja notes as a guideline that I can then add my own notes from the videos, book, and homework. I thought they would be a good outline to start from. I don't do well just reading a textbook and retaining the info. I am hoping the videos will be easier for me to retain the info as I take notes.

@TmCPAwannabe have you passed any of the exams yet using Becker? I keep hearing these horror stories of how Becker isn't enough and people wished they would have supplemented it, but I do have limited time so I need to use whatever is best and not waste time when studying.

I think you will find Becker somewhat difficult to do working full time. I would suggest you stick to a tight timing, for example do 1 chapter a week or every 5 days and move on. Then supplement with NINJA MCQs

The problem with the Becker program is that it assumes you don’t have a job and have 15 hours per chapter of free time. If you work you don’t want to waste time on all the pesky details that will never show up on the exam. You can’t really skip the lecture because they have designed the textbook to go hand-in-hand with the lectures. I assume this is so people can’t get value out of borrowing someone’s old reading material and not paying the fees for the whole program.

BTW, making your own lecture notes wont help you adequately. Much of the material is buried in the right and wrong answers of the MCQs. If you were only to make lecture notes, you would miss a lot of the material.

I use the online book a lot and it already has the notes written on them along with what to highlight and memorize. I usually write the notes on my hard copy of the book before reading. From what I have read on different threads in this forum, there is always a need to supplement no matter what review course is being used. The Ninja Notes are good to review after you read the chapter. I would consider them a good outline. The trouble that I was having with the videos is that not only do they take 3-4 hours, but you also have to read the material anyway because they only go over certain parts.

@Nessie My plan is one chapter a week. On Sunday watch the lecture and take notes referencing the book. Then during the work week do the homework, which I am assuming includes multiple choice and simulations. Take additional notes from the homework on concepts I didn't get right. Do you think this sounds reasonable?

Then for a final review rewrite my notes and more multiple choice.

Do you really feel like I need Ninja MCQ in addition to all the Becker ones? I think the Ninja Notes will be beneficial because they will be a condensed outline that I can add additional notes to reference in the final review.

I personally don't. I plan to purchase Ninja MCQ when I am ready to review. I've read on a lot of threads that it's easy to start memorizing answers because the questions have been repeated so many times. While doing homework, I can see that happening. If I had to pick two supplements it would have to be the Ninja Notes and MCQ.

Ok awesome thanks. Maybe I will add the Ninja MCQ in my 2 week final review as a supplement to the Becker. Do you plan on doing the full Becker exam?

Yes I do. I have also printed out AICPA sample questions and I will use those for my review as well.
